Heavy Rigid Vehicle Driver Training
Heavy Rigid is classed as:
Any rigid vehicle with three or more axles and a GVM of more than 8 tonnes.
Any towed trailer must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM.
Also includes articulated buses and vehicles in Class MR.
This licence is your first step in getting a position in the lucrative mining industry. Upgrading to a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence from a normal car licence is the biggest upgrade step any person is allowed to take.
Driving a Heavy Rigid vehicle is very different to driving car. The size of the vehicle can affect your road position perspective, turning lines and manoeuvring. Driving a Road ranger (crash) gearbox for the first time also can also be challenging but once it is mastered you will have an unrestricted class HR licence.
Designed for drivers who wish to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to obtain Heavy Rigid Driver's Licence. Drivers are trained and assessed against the RMS Competency Standards by RMS accredited assessors. After a required standard of competency has been achieved RMS will issue the appropriate licence.
Elite Heavy Vehicle Driving School will train the applicant to have the necessary skills required to undertake a competency based assessment conducted by one of our NSW RMS endorsed qualified assessors.
